Eminem is fine, I like Eminem. He's up there. So theres 2 from teh last 15 years, Nirvana and Eminem.

But for you to put the Chemical Brothers or Smashing Pumpkins in the same league as the superacts of the 60s-70s? Come on!!!! The smashing pumpkins, vs. Beatles, stones, aretha franklin, Simon and Garfinkel,LedZepplin etc.

The smashing pumpkins? The Chemical Brothers?

edit- btw you mentioned Garth Brooks. I would say that country is one area of popular music that is NOT experiencing the dearth that other areas are

I don't like Eminem. I don't like rap. Rap is not music, it is speaking with a beat and the beats between different raps all sound the same to me.

A couple of good recent artists are Alanis Morisette and Nora Jones.
