Yes Slag, you have it pretty much right, and it wouldn't be a takeover in an onslaught but more like the takeover of chimpoids by humans. It was a gradual evolutionary shift in our genome with the chimpoids dying in the usual way [which was part of the process, though undetectable for any given chimpoid].

This shift should be a LOT quicker and already legions of people derive their total income from developing and using cyberspace. Where our money goes, our allegiance follows.

Gradually, the symbiosis of humans and cyberspace will lean towards pure cyberspace with the chimpoid humans having no useful role and they'll just do whatever they are doing to make ends meet and keep their tummies full.

Cyberspace won't be competing with humans for crop space for example, unlike the competition of humans with chimps for crop space, so the revolution will be more benign, but far more spectacular in outcome.
