carranza2,

Best of luck to you and yours. What's going to be left of New Orleans, one of only a few great American cities?

John

>>My home is Uptown, two blocks off St Charles and a block from Audubon Park. Yeah, yeah, maybe one of the best neighborhoods, and all indications are that there was no flooding there as we are quite high<<

Sorry to hear it Carranza, I assume you and your family are safe and out of harm's way (ie evacuated?)

I like(d) Galatoire's more than Antoine's too, still it's sad to see 170 years of culinary heritage go down the drain. The looters aren't sophisticated enough to make a try at their wine cave, they're too busy lifting TV's and shoes and such...

A horrible tragedy, I still have many relatives and friends there. It was the most beautiful city on earth...

My husband ate in a restaurant that President Jackson had liked...........I think it was Antoine's.........the floors were not even and it was very old but the waiters all wore tuxedoes............we were there 20 years ago.

Did the Cafe DuMonde survive? And the Court of the Three Sisters ?

Oh Galatoires, I've been there many times in my life starting with Mardi Gras when I was about 6 and lastly about 2 years ago. In all those years, it had changed little and is one of the places I think of when I think of New Orleans.

I know your area by Audubon Park. I hope everything is ok. My best to you.
