True, but if we elect a Democratic conservative, we don't achieve a lot of improvement over Bush. So, just like you can always pick a winner at the race track by betting on every horse, you can pick a winner in politics and still not win anything substantial. I think Lieberman or Biden would be better than Bush, but only marginally. They don't have the juice to set this declining country right again. True, they are not totally evil or ignorant like Dubya, but his ignorance has made him somewhat and blessedly ineffective.

As to swing voters, why are they willing to go totally nutjob right wing? If that's the true picture of the American public, we may never have a good President again. Economics will change the citizenry, but it is sad if we have to wait for a depression to realize that we were on the wrong path.
