Remember what happened during the Rodney King riots in LA ? They put the "L" in the word loot.

There will always be people who will take advantage of the situation and resort to criminal efforts. FOr those that were getting food and water for survival...........I can understand the circumstances.

If I had hungry children with me I'd do the same thing under those circumstances..............I would probably go back later and pay the store owner something or give to others as a kind of penance. I would make some kind of spiritual retribution.

"Imagine what would happen in Miami under similar conditions?"

No way would this kind of anarchy happen in Miami, we are armed to the teeth in Florida ... the looters would be dropping like flies.

Media is out of their mind to give looting any priority. This will only force the local officials to divert precious few resources from rescue and recovery to prevent looters. It resembles a war zone and things need to be done on war footing.

John,

Of course there is nothing funny about this tragic situation, but I was amused by an interview with one looter.

This looter told CNN that people had to "do what they had to do out of desperation", and he had 6 or 7 grandchildren.

This guy looked about 35 at best. So, was it 6 grandchildren or was it 7?
