I agree. People grabbing valuables in a crisis like this should be jailed for 10 years.

CJ and Mindmeld, you know some of these residents who ignored the calls to evacuate New Orleans probably figured they can get a home theater system and a diamond necklace for real cheap. In the meantime, they destroy the livelihoods of honest citizens, discouraged their willingness to evacuate, hampered rescue efforts, and pretty much took advantage of a natural disaster.

I hate to say this, but I think our Nat'l Guardsmen in the area should immediately return fire if fired upon. There is no excuse whatsoever for what the looters are doing.

I think if there was ever a light moment during this disaster was yesterday when they showed 5 young tourists walking down Canal Street, pulling their luggage behind them on their little wheels like in the airports [is their a name for those wheels and handles on luggage?]. Tears were streaming down their eyes and they were complaining that the hotel had kicked them out and that no one cared about them.......after all, they were survivors too. What came to mind was the word, princess. I know that's rather mean spirited but with their mini skirts all messed up while pulling their luggage on Canal Street........there was something very surreal and funny about the whole picture.
