i'm hearing that stranded people are without food and water,

why isn't the national guard doing 'food drops' ....if helicopters can drop sand bags, why aren't they able to set pallets of MRE's and potable water on the on the ground? (i see stretches of dry highway on the tapes i'm watching)

That takes a bit of time.

I, like all of you, are flipping back and forth between FOX and CNN. The CNN people are hysterical at the moment. And they are inciting to riot. Showing people setting on the street in NO and getting them to scream at the camera is not a good way to handle this.

The US Forest Service has an incident command structure that draws organized teams from the ranks when needed, usually for fire situations. Does anybody know if they have been mobilized to New Orleans?

From looking at various news feeds, I'd say the biggest requirement, really short term, is communication to the victims.

I should think an airdrop of radios and batteries at places like Superdome and various highway interchanges would be terrificly reassuring to folk there.

As it stands right now, they have no idea whether help will arrive this afternoon or Sunday or never....

Help may be just a couple of miles or hours away but for a lot of folk it might as well be the moon it's coming from.

But this is the era of fast everything. From food to car washes to mortgages. People expect instant gratification and if they don't get it they really scream. Just look at what the libs are saying.

Unreasonable........yes.......but none the less.......govt is supposed to be there, ready and prepared at the snap of a finger, and if they aren't, be prepared to listen to the crybabies all day and night.
