<Is Bush going to take charge and deploy more resources more effectively to provide relief...? Will he aknowledge we have NOT funded domestic infrastructure projects in an acceptable way...? Will he call for the rest of the nation to sacrifice to help the Gulf Coast region...? Will he call on Congress to repeal the tax cuts on the wealthy since we can't afford them in this new environment. Will Mr. Bush lead by example...?>

Uh, no?

Chertoff is crowing that they'll have quadruple the N.O.'s police force (in the form of national guard) on the ground there in the next few days. Since N.O.'s is largely empty that would mean, what, maybe a 1:20 security:citizen ratio?

Hey, it's the Powell doctrine of overwhelming force.

Gee.

I certainly hope they don't just bring guns and bullets but water and, you know, food and maybe some blooming evacuation orders. There was the vision of the media guys having to flag down a National Guard truck (mostly empty) to evacuate some people yesterday. No media, no evacuation.

Zounds. If you're from the Gulf Coast and sitting in Iraq today....do you still support the Bush administration?

I hope help comes soon for those folks. Always this country has had an immediate response of aid until now. People had better wake up before their town faces disaster.
