I saw that too. Why didn't the President order that 100-200 helicopters - military, civilian, corporate - be commandeered for a national emergency, and begin taking food from WalMarts, and landing it by helicopters at:
* the Superdome
* The Civic Center
* on top or by some of the 10-20 largest hotels in the French Quarter
* etc.

Doesn't take a military strategic planner to figure that one out.

I'm really starting to think we may need to clean house in Congress - and get a complete new group that can do basic things without just talking for hours and getting nothing done.

I never got the sense that he fully understood the severity of the problem from the perspective of humanity.

Amen, brother.

I have never voted for a Democrat in my life, but I swear to God that if this situation in New Orleans doesn't resolve favorably pronto, I will never vote for another fricking Republican in my life.

All they care about is covering their ass and saving face.

Not that the Democrats are any better.

But the Democrats steal from the rich to give to the poor, while the Republicans steal from the poor to give to the rich.

Donald Dudley, a 55-year-old New Orleans seafood merchant, complained that when he and other hungry refugees broke into the kitchen of the convention center and tried to prepare food, the National Guard chased them away.

"They pulled guns and told us we had to leave that kitchen or they would blow our damn brains out," he said. "We don't want their help. Give us some vehicles and we'll get ourselves out of here!"
