Oblomov,

Eh, while you're at it, cut me a small check. I burned wood for 90% of my heat for over 20 years. Since the Feds never gave me credit for conserving fuel oil, someone owes me a debt of gratitude (but I prefer cash).

Low-income assistance fund? Huh? As I've posted before, when I received my electric bill, there was a surcharge to help the low-income. However, though I paid this as a tax, none of recipients ever offered to help me move, cut or stack the wood. No, they just turned their thermostats higher.

FWIW, many insurance companies charge the homeowner more if there is a wood burning stove in the home. Many other companies won't even insure a home with a wood stove.

On the news this evening, Springfield, Missouri told local police to conserve energy by:
a. speed limit of 55 on highways
b. speed limit of 65 when pursuing criminals
c. more use of motorcycles
d. reduce the use of AC while in the car.

Now, the school district of Springfield did NOT, by contrast, reduce number of intrastate athletic events for high schools. Conserve? Hello?

I urge readers to consider calling their school board members to demand that extracurricular sporting events be canceled to conserve.
