Yeah, but the storm surge didn't drop off. It was more characteristic of a Cat. 5.

Its not academic at all. As I understand it, there is a significant difference in the measurement levels of hurricanes as it is with earthquakes. Therefore, the difference between a CAT 4 vs a CAT 5 is pretty substantial in impact.
