The Comfort requires a week to ten days to get stocked and positioned. This is not an asset that would ordinarily be used under these circumstances and, frankly, may not be needed by the time it gets there.

Ask the governor. However, you should keep in mind that they weren't generally thought to be needed until Tuesday, and almost all of the deployed Guard troops have full time jobs and must be contacted and prepared to ship within some number of hours. Combine that with the fact that all but one major highway was impassable, and you MIGHT be able to figure it out.

As to Condi Rice, she *IS* Secretary of State. There is no reason for her to be near the impact area other than the fact her family is there.
