Yes, and I like the idea of a walkie-talkie GPS combined unit.

That is real important. I have a GPS and a set of FRS radios but having one that uses the CB frequencies would be better.

Oh ! Light dawns for me - GPS can also give you elevation. Can be useful in floods, one of which I almost manage to get caught in ... and did not really know it until the next day.

Cell phones can die when wet, or banged around. Water proof paper is a good back up.

Eventually night vision devices will be cheap enough to add to the trunk. Useful for going around roadblocks, avoiding bad people, etc.

Cycalume vs. Road Flares - depends on where you are...i live in flammable California.
