Good on Frist for volunteering as a doctor, and criticizing relief efforts.
>> Frist also said the federal government had acted too slowly in dealing with the hurricane's aftermath.

"Given the escalation of catastrophe that occurred over the first three days, absolutely I would have liked to see the federal government respond quicker, more rapidly, with better command and control centers and much improved communication," Frist said.

"I'm not going to get into finger-pointing now. I did call for oversight hearings _ I wouldn't have done that if I weren't concerned. We've got to do better." <<

If the Senate Majority Leader says the response was inadequate, will those circling the wagons at least admit the possibility?

Seems like the spin doctors are running the government and all we produce anymore is damage control.

I was thinking generally. My mom just died two months ago and had not wanted any extra effort ....she died of Alzheimers, but the cause was dehydration. The time was several days more than 3 days, even but you are right. The heat and stress of the entire situation has been high, and probably in itself, caused many of the deaths.

But as I noted in this link, we must now consider what we are to do about water access for other major disasters....This New Orleans situation has really opened our eyes to both man made disaster and Nature made disaster, and what we need to do for either or both, or God forbid, both together.
