Former First Lady Barbra Bush feels the pain of the peeps of Nwalins:

Former First Lady Barbara Bush said Monday that living in the Astrodome in Houston was working out well for many of the 15,000 hurricane victims there because they were underprivileged anyway.

Mrs. Bush made her remarks on the National Public Radio program "Marketplace" after visiting hurricane relief centers in Houston with a delegation that included her husband, former President George H.W. Bush, and former President Bill Clinton.

In a segment at the top of the show on the surge of evacuees to the Texas city, Barbara Bush said: "Almost everyone I’ve talked to says we're going to move to Houston."

Then she added: "What I’m hearing is they all want to stay in Texas. Everyone is so overwhelmed by the hospitality.

"And so many of the people in the arena here, you know, were underprivileged anyway, so this -- this [she chuckles slightly] is working very well for them."

The two former presidents have been chosen by George W. Bush to head fundraising efforts for the recovery. Sen. Hilary Clinton and Sen. Barack Obama were also present during the Houston tour.

Do you all still dislike Nagin? I'm starting to have some respect for the guy. He seems to have genuine compassion for the folks there or at least I get that sense, which is very important and something I don't get from the governor at all.

BTW I saw that interview and heard what he said about the governor needing 24 hours and he didn't really "praise bush". That is spin. And its taken a little out of context too. But Nagin was definitely very damning of the governor, and FEMA.

I thought the beef was that Blanko wouldn't relinquish the national guard to federal control?
