Here we have the account of how Solomon (God bless him) killed 22,000 oxen and 120,000 sheep as "peace offerings" to God. The round numbers are proof positive that God made the universe to conform to mathematical realities. 119,999 sheep would NOT have convinced God to be at peace with the universe. It had to be 120,000 sheep. Obviously, such numerable sheep must have been gathered from many many pastures. The atheist scoffs at these wonderful sacrifices because the atheist FAILS to understand how amazingly pleasing the sweet savour of blood and caul is to God! Really...why shouldn't 120,000 sheep be sacrificed? They tear off the grass right down to the ground, and they ruin the land for cattle. In biblical times, 120,000 sheep could be sacrificed in less than 6 minutes--including all the wonderful blood rituals. All it takes is a sharp knife, an iron will, and tireless hands and wrists.8:63 And Solomon offered a sacrifice of peace offerings, which he offered unto the LORD, two and twenty thousand oxen, and an hundred and twenty thousand sheep. So the king and all the children of Israel dedicated the house of the LORD. Oxen are another matter. They probably brought them through a chute. As long as they were killed kosher. They probably had stainless steel gutter for the blood runoff. All that butchering, all that blood, the bleating of the sheep, the Pandemonium (which Milton refers to has the Capital of Hell)--and all this as the Children cried out joyfully with hosannas to the heavens as they made a great peace with God! Something to celebrate! Solomon always did things in a BIG WAY! The blood from 22,000 oxen and 120,000 sheep must have brought tears of happiness to the eyes of God. The gift of blood. There is really nothing better! Bless Jesus! The atheist is refuted once again! EeekBaptist
