"When the levees broke Aug. 30 and flooded New Orleans"

Which is wrong. The first levee breach occurred on the 29th.

"Mayor slams Blanco for stalling"

Certainly there is plenty of criticism that can be spread around. But don't forget that Bush could have sent in the National Guard on his own, just like he did on 9/11. FEMA could have responded immediately, just like they did in Florida last year.

Could it be that they didn't see New Orleans as important because the governor and mayor are Democrats, unlike Pataki and Guliani?

RE:" Governor Blanco".
Like I said, when she needed to act, she drew a Blank-o.

That decision was a request by Mr. Bush to allow the federal government to take over the evacuation of New Orleans, which had been marked by chaos for days. The Democratic governor, who has clashed behind the scenes with the Bush administration since the storm hit, refused.

That's right he wanted to federalize NO and take over. We've already seen how the feds responded to the disaster. Why would any governor allow the screwups to take over the job completely?

This is a non story.....go peddle it somewhere else. You have no credibility here.
