Teck could still JV with another firm on some undeveloped leases.

I am not sure if the POU leases are mineable.

Also HSE said they would consider spinning out their 6bn bbls of oil sands. I belive some of that is mining.

If I recall, Teck said they want a partnership, though. (They also said they weren't that interested in UTS/PCZ's JV but maybe that was just what you say in negotiations)

Teck could become very powerful with such a hedge, kind of like Southwest airlines has succeeded with its jet fuel hedges even when the market is difficult.

The oil sands holdings NEM and Teck have put together might be strategic weapons one day. Personally I have been waiting for a better pullback in gold to enter NEM.
