An elimination of capital gains would probably increase tax receipts more than any other tax reduction. It would take a long time to do so though. It would be a great engine for growth of our economy, and be a huge draw for capitalist immigrants from around the world.

This does not change the fact that a tax on death is immoral. It might not be the most government efficient revenue reduction; it is the most immoral tax I am aware of. You are correct in pointing out that it is even worse than I said. In many cases, the death tax is assessed on money that has already been taxed multiple times.

Forcing the sale of family businesses and family farms to satisfy the death tax is just wrong. The survivors have suffered enough, without saddling them with the additional expense of the immoral death tax.
