I've often wondered where the figures come from as well...WHO makes them up, and on what basis.....???? We had a meeting the other day. We needed to pass the proposed budget. A few of the folks wanted to pay for at least one guest of the each of our Award winners (about 18 winners so x2 for the guests)....BUT they didn't want to put that in the budget. Thought the number "looked too high".... The thought was "we have the mney in there, so don't have to put "that number" in the budget... Sigggggggggghhhhhhhhhhh. I really wondered if ANY of them had ever had their own little business, or if ANY of them ran their own checkbooks, and how both were working.... We obviously have a LOT of this type of thinking in Government, at every level.

$100 billion. There were something like 1 million adults in New Orleans. That's $100,000 each. Most of those 1 million were far from impoverished. Those who were impoverished have hit the jackpot if they get their hands on that loot. $100,000 is a nice donation. Much of the property was not harmed at all, so it's a windfall! Wheeeee!!!! Blow wind blow!!! It's an ill wind that blows nobody good. Note the guesses on numbers dead are wildly wrong. The water rose very slowly and nearly everyone can walk at least a bit. Even cows have the sense to walk uphill. It wasn't a flash flood. It was gradual. Most people had left town, being sensible and being well warned, after boarding up their properties. This was not a Bangladeshi storm and flood which is outright catastrophic in terms of lives lost. Globalstar phones are doing a good job. 15,000 or thereabouts sold in the last week or two. Mqurice
