Intuition tells me the comment wasn't fueled by compassion, but I've been wrong before. I think you can depend on your intuition this time. I'm surprised by today's news that they're expecting far fewer bodies than had initially been estimated. The numbers being found were 'small' enough that I didn't understand where the ten to twenty five thousand number came from, and nobody explained it, so I actually wasn't surprised at all that the number of bodies they're finding now is consistent with the earlier numbers. I sure do hope this means that what Bill is going to be doing there will not involve body-retrieval. A friend's synagogue has a connection with a synagogue down south and is helping that synagogue by contributing funds. The southern synagogue has recruited and sent 750 volunteers, and members of it are putting people up in their homes. I think that's scary, especially if you have children, because there is no way of conducting a background check on your guests, and you have no idea what kind of person you are taking into your home, but some people are a lot better and braver than I am, and willing to take more risk. Among them, Bill. I've sent money, of course. The easy route.
