Re: "....Governor ordering the Louisiana National Guard. Bush packed them off to Iraq. There was no Louisiana National Guard of any significance."

ChinuSFO, that is just false. We can't go on until you realize that there were, if I recall correctly, some 8000 or 9000 available, and she'd brought in only hundreds. Many of those came in eventually, when she and everyone began to wake up. She also had the right to get Guard help from other neighboring states, and they each had similar thousands available. Today, with 30,000 guardsmen in there from these sources (all of whom could have been there at the start if the Governor had brought them in that soon), there are still plenty more which could be brought in if powers that be thought it necessary. All this is true, without bringing a soul back from Iraq, and this being the case, the idea that Iraq affected this response must be considered patently ludicrous. Get it? WE STILL HAVE TONS OF HELP RIGHT HERE STATESIDE WHICH WE HAVEN'T DRAWN UPON TO DATE!

The Iraq argument on this is wholly unworthy.
