John, poor people shouldn't burn much fuel. They should ride bicycles and live close to work.

My point is telling people how much they have to sell themselves and their products for is criminal. It's slavery. A person owned by third parties is a slave. People like having slaves, so it's not surprising that there is popular demand for price controls.

Unfortunately, governments constantly establish monopolies and those do rip people off.

My point is people should charge what they want to charge, which is usually what the market will bear as most people like to maximize their income.

It's very simple and works to keep supplies available and effort sensibly allocated.
