The terrorist attacks of Sept 11 2001 made me think about holding real estate in a state (Illinois) that has the highest concentration of nuclear power plants in the US, and probably the world for that matter.
I was asked to do research into just such an event, and other scenarios, and it really opened my eyes.

Illinois Nuclear Highlights

* Of the 31 States with nuclear capacity, Illinois ranks first.
* On the Energy Information Administration's (EIA) list of 100 largest power plants in the United States, Byron ranks 23rd in capacity, Braidwood ranks 32nd, and LaSalle ranks 34th.
* There are 30 countries with commercial nuclear capacity. To appreciate the size of the State's nuclear industry, consider this: if Illinois suddenly became an independent country, its nuclear capacity would rank 8th in the World..
