As long as we have 3rd party administrators making health care decisions the system is BROKE.

I like the idea of Govt providing catastrophic coverage in most cases for severe trauma and catastrophic illness.

I like the idea of issueing health care debit cards for people (FOR EXAMPLE) the first 2000.00 of medical care they receive and anything over that they have to pay a certain percentage each year.

You could spend it on prevention, fitness, diet, physical therapy, chiropractic, whatever u need to make your life better.

You could spend it on drugs if you like to risk your liver and kidneys or if you believe what the drug companys tell u as a better life through chemicals. (i hate drugs as an aside)

If people knew they had 2000.00 (in debit card/yr) to take care of basic health problems up to a certain point they would prob do what they needed to do to take care of themselves.

The Insurance companies and regulative RED TAPE/bureaucracy is a MAJOR PART OF THE HEALTH CARE COSTS.

California just did a HUGE Workers' Compensation overhall. I think one positive thing that came from it is a reduction in the long term lawsuits of some really chronic cases that the state compensation tried to settle on. I think that's positive.

But the answer is not in Cracking down on the administrative side of health care. that is not the answer. HEALTH care bureaucracy is a HUGE PROBLEM. The insurance co's are the problem.
