Assuming for now that a third Party could not win (sad... but perhaps the Libertarians can at least *focus attention* on serious issues, and solutions), it seems that you are still ignoring another alternative: Divided Government.

It seems that the only progress we as a nation have made in recent years toward balancing the budget... was when *divided government* stimied big spending plans from EITHER Party.

(More specifically, I'd have to say that we saw progress when a REPUBLICAN Congress was paired with a DEMOCRAT in the White House. I mention this particular political combination only because when we had a DEMOCRAT Congress and a Republican President in the 1980s, the deficits and national debt grew even more then they have in the past few years....)

There is MUCH to ADMIRE in *Gridlock*.
