I agree that calling the timing on this stuff is beyond difficult.

And like you, I also see deterioration in the real estate markets as a logical turning point for any near term downside.

It is going to be a very interesting Fall.... ah.... by that I mean autumn. (g)

I take a bit simpler view: Housing IS the economy now. It is slowing, there's no doubt about it, especially in the Western bubble regions. When it goes, employment goes, the refi game goes, the economy goes. And the stock market goes. It's over and the stocks will reflect it soon enough, the big money now is to be made on the short side of stocks, with patches to hide in in gold and (perhaps) natural gas.
