You have again made the unsubstantiated claim that drug companies get funding for research from government sources. This time you upped the ante from 20-30% to 50%. I am willing to consider the possibility that you know what you are talking about. Evidence of this would increase your credibility.

"Nor does the fact that these companies invest in drugs establish their motivation."

Humans are complex individuals. Companies reflect that. Corporations reflect the people. When management is driven by profits, the company is driven by profits. When management is more egalitarian, then that is reflected.

"simply wondering where you think the rest of the world is letting these big non tax paying companies down?"

Prove you allegation. before making rash accusations.

"A socialist might argue that other countries and other people ought to live their lives to the benefit of these FAT CATS."

You have written like a true socialist. From each according to his abilities, and to each according to his needs. I reject your philosophy. If a person is smart, clever, diligent, or lucky enough to develop something that is in demand, they should be rewarded for it. The drug system has a method to deal with the egalitarian need of society already. In the US the patent lasts 17 years form the initial development work. In many cases a drug has only a couple of years of patent life by the time 15 years of expenditures on R&D pays off in sales. After the patent expires anyone can make the drug.

"Do you think you pay too much for prescription drugs?? ... or just the exact right amount??"

Like all people I would like to see more for less. the way to achieve this is by freeing the market, not restricting it. Government intervention NEVER makes things better or more efficient in the long run.
