Repeal advocates, such as Sen. Jon Kyl of Arizona, have offered their own "reform" proposals that would raise the amount of wealth exempted by the tax to more than $10 million and drop the rate to 15 percent from its current level of 47 percent. Such an irresponsible reform would lose more than 85 percent of the revenue raised by the tax and cripple the nation's charitable sector, which according to a Congressional Budget Office study would experience a decline in estate giving of more than $10 billion a year

This author is BOGUS. The above statement by the author himself PROVES ME RIGHT, The truly MEGA WEALTHY DONT PAY. $10million dollars is less then they often pay CASH for ONE HOUSE, so OBVIOUSLY if the tax were set at estates above 10 Million and that would cause 85% loss of revenue then they ARENT PAYING INHERITANCE TAX. jdn

Donations Reduce Buffett Tax Bill
Omaha World - Herald
Aug 23, 07:33 PM

The tax bill for the estate of the late Susan Thompson Buffett will total about $95 million -- $75.4 million in federal estate taxes, $5.2 million in inheritance taxes to Douglas County and about $15 million in estate taxes to the State of Nebraska.

The payment to Douglas County is the largest in memory, but the federal bill is "middle of the road" for taxable estates, officials said.

Taxes owed on Buffett's $2.76 billion estate would have been larger, but $2.62 billion is exempt from taxes because she donated it to the Buffett Foundation and other charitable groups.

I guess Warren and his wife were not on the same page. He has said he supports the death tax.
