Now there's an answer that I can relate to. <g>if you ask such question, then I am going to turn it around and ask you... how come you have not been as vehement as you seem now and questioned the use of money in stupid programs... That broader issue is a horse I no longer take the initiative to rock. Too much drain on my energy reserves. And I'm really not rocking it here. I was asking a straight question. There seem to be some people here who think this is actually a good idea and I'd like to understand their thinking before I become too set in my natural position on the issue. They could have some insight that I'm missing. You obviously don't think it's a good idea so I won't get any insight from you. I might get some from CR or MD, though. MD, in particular, had posted upthread about the vacancy rate so there seem to be plenty of buildings in which to place people. So why is it such a priority for the feds to get new buildings built?this has to be answered first: desirable (or not) for whom? Since the initiative and the funding are federal, then the answer has to be desirable for the country as a whole relative to federal tax monies available and other priorities, seems to me. again, it seems interesting why you do not make the same sort of questioning about how tax dollars get used when there are hundreds of other questionable practices.... I like to focus. We were talking about Katrina. If you'd like to talk about some other stupid idea, I'm game. But one at a time works best for me. Or if you want to talk about the general culture of dumbness, I'm game for that, too. Right now, I'm just trying to find out why some people think it's a good idea for federal taxpayers to subsidize the building of new buildings in New Orleans.
