This is all wonderful jest, but it belies a terrible situation, that could have been avoided, imo. We went in with a too weak force. A coalition doubling the size would have done the trick. What was the hurry going to war? What difference would have a year made to get an international force together. At the end of the day, Blix would have said there is or is not WMDs or that Saddam was not cooperating. There was two avenue to war that would have included an international force of gargantuan size, enough to win the war and adequately police the country. Rumsfeld felt that 150,000 troops would win the war and the people would be joyous and democracy would rule the land... Powell did not see such a rosy outcome for such a weak invasion force and he told the president so. Bush decided to listen to a guy with no war experience... what does that tell you?
