Neolib, the oil price is temporarily high. Of course nuclear energy is cheaper than $70 a barrel. But by the time somebody builds one, they won't be looking at $70 a barrel competing oil, it'll be more like $30 a barrel, or less.

Oil won't be at $70 a barrel in 2010 because it's already well above competing energy prices and other alternatives such as efficiency, insulation etc. People are doing all sorts of things to cut their oil consumption and replace it with other things.

The main motivation for Iran to get nuclear bombs is Islamic Jihad. The USA can't stop them thinking that, just as I can't stop you thinking it's a great thing if Iran builds nuclear reactors and bombs and sells gas to India through a $multibillion pipeline. <why does the USA not address more equitably some of the main motivations for them to acquire such weapons>
