Yes, there are so many taxes, imposts, duties, fees, government-owned monopolies and other money flows to government, it's hard to work out where one is least attacked.

On the positive side of the ledger, what the governments do with the money matters more than how much is taken.

Some use the money to run legal systems which actually protect people and enforce contracts. Others use the money to buy guns to steal more. They all do both to some extent, but it's a question of degree. Usually third degree rather than university degree.

By and large, people work it out and they and their money flow to where things are better overall for them. Zimbabwe rates low and Switzerland rates high. Guess which has more people trying to get in to live, taking their money with them.
