No the tens of thousands of deaths have been Iraqi. We're only approaching the 2000 mark. The UN was corrupt and Hussein merited watching, but the threat he posed to the US was minimal. The threat he posed to his own people and his neighbors was much greater. Why is it we didn't just let them pull themselves up by their own boot straps? What justification can you find for spending 200 billion + dollars to help people who should be helping themselves? Are you as ready to spend that kind of money to help the victims of Katrina. Even though republicans are commonly heard saying they should have gotten out, they were warned. Stupidity should have a cost, right? Are we now going to become the worlds moral police? God help the world. jb

I dunno. Sure sounds like you have drunk the Karl Rove cool aid. Remember Democracy doesn't cure all ills. It took 100 years of Democracy for the USA to free slaves. 125 years after Democracy there were the glorious Indian wars where the noble military slaughtered women and children in a USA style ethnic cleansing. Lynching occurred in the democratic southern USA until just a few decades ago. You watch - Iraq will be a mess for years and will do the USA no damn good at all.
