LLCF Re: "religion" Thats the truth. And its all NEW, a product of the 1960's and later and hence suspect. This attitude is very European and supposedly had its origins there because of monarchy and a real state church and was part of the political program of anarchists and communists and other misfits.

But we never had a state church here and even Mark Twain (and he no fan of religion) wrote extensively that under our arrangements where the church was broken up into a thousand sects, all competing with one another for converts, that the sects would "police" themselves and that the church could never become a problem.
