Not exactly a revelation given that MSFT, QCOM, and other superlative companies are run by people who know how what makes things tick.

My guess is that most good companies are started and run initially by people who know what makes things tick and are subsequently taken over by accountants, lawyers, MBAs and 'managers'. By the time the creator leaves, the companies have already pretty much peaked.
