As a Libertarian I think we should protect our borders only and stay out of foriegn conflicts. Some Libertarians think we should have stayed out of WWII for that reason. I disagree for the same reason I disagree with you now. Sometimes, you have to recognize that acting overseas is the only was to ensure we've done our best to protect our borders. If I say our troops tend to believe in the Iraq war, it is true. Supporting them IMHO, doesn't mean stopping them from doing this job they believe in.

I've always felt vigilantism isn't a real practical problem in cases where the truly guilty are stopped. This is such a case, and there is no higher law willing to do the job instead of us "vigilantes," if you like.
