Katrina wasn't "just a hurricane". The flood, combined with the ill-preparedness of the local governments, was the problem with Katrina. Had it been "just a hurricane", there is little doubt the disaster response would have been considered totally adequate.


Look, I was a kid in Beaumont when Carla blew through. Carla was a strong Cat. 4, maybe Cat. 5, and the response was better than what was experienced during Katrina. It was only a couple of days before there was a government presence providing aid

I'm not sure why this is so complicated. It is pretty obvious that the problems with Katrina had to do solely with the flooding in NOLA. This is not typical hurricane flooding.

I guess you haven't been following the story, or something. The difference is fairly obvious; I don't expect tejek to understand it but I think you should be able to.
