He urged people to cut back, thus depriving his so-called "energy company friends" from profiting. Seems to me he's doing the right thing, regardless of its impact of his "friends".

Not exactly sure what you are talking about. The ONLY way we are going to reduce consumption RIGHT AWAY is to DRIVE LESS. There is no other way. Beating up the oil companies isnt going to do it. If we all could cut back even 10% if even for a year or so I bet we could lick this immediate problem. Ultimately in the INTERIM we MUST build new refineries and explore new oil fields. In the LONG TERM we MUST switch to Nuclear fuel to power our electrical grid and alternative fuels to power our vehicles but that isnt going to happen overnight, we need a 10-25 year plan. jdn
