SA has the highest murder rate in the world. Some have suspected, although it has never been noted widely, that the murders are apartheid "payback" or black on white murders. The lawlessness is painted by the press as a symptom of a rootless, disordered society set free so to speak with more or less the same poor economic circumstances it always had -- or worse. In other words most killings are presented as random crime of the militarily armed group of unemployed former rebels.

This crime however has political and financial intrigue that points to motive. Billions lost, dissatisfied shareholders, etc.. It could even be a group paving the way for what is insisted often in the new order in SA that white owned businesses let in more black directors.

Whatever the cause, it underscores that the general disintegration of SA society and business, appearing to be well underway by many reports, can only diminish the world's gold supply from this once dominant gold providing nation, and add lustre to its price. Out of misery and strife comes some solace, albeit cold comfort for residents of that African country.
