What crap. You are so uninformed you should not even be speaking on the subject. Tell this guy: From: LTC Will Merrill, USAR During 15 months in the Middle East, 12 of which were in Iraq, from the start of the war through OIF3, I found that many of our media reporters had anti-war and anti-US agendas which caused them to significantly Misinterpret facts and situations more often than not. They seemed to home in on the one or two disgruntled/homesick soldiers and send a message that "all is lost" or that the "US Soldiers want out of Iraq." I found the case to be completely different. For every homesick or disgruntled soldier I encountered, I met hundreds more who enthusiastically supported the US intervention in Iraq. In fact, our reenlistment statistics prove that- with more than 90% of the soldiers re-enlisting- and many of them selecting "Present Duty Assignment" (continued duty with their unit in Iraq) as a preferred re-enlistment incentive... instead of the other popular incentives like "Hometown Recruiting" or "Hawaii" as their choice of assignment. Our soldiers are not fighting the Iraqis. The Iraqi military surrendered after a month of poor fighting, and they appear glad to be working with the USA and its coalition allies. Our soldiers are working with the people of Iraq to protect them from foreign terrorists sent by the governments of Iran and Syria to disrupt the workings of Iraq's new democracy. If Democracy succeeds in Iraq (and it will as long as we don't pull out our support in the face of this situation) then the tyrannical leaders of some adjoining countries feel they will lose power with their own people. The media has missed this entirely. They continue to tout negative aspects of everything we do. Every time they do this, THEY cause our soldiers injury. THEY incite violence and motivate the terrorists to continue savagely murdering soldiers and civilians. Some of our politicians are equally as bad- during the campaign season, John Kerry, Hillary Clinton, Nancy Pelosi, Al Gore and Ted Kennedy all inspired renewed violence and terrorist vigor every time they made malicious statements about our role in Iraq. I hold THEM accountable for the death and injury inflicted on our soldiers! We DID the right thing and we ARE doing the right thing in Iraq. We removed a brutal regime that tortured and murdered nearly 2 million innocent people. I have seen the evidence and heard the stories from the citizens of Iraq. I have photographs for the non-believers who just don't get it. -- LTC Will Merrill, USAR
