There are certain certainties in our search for knowledge
(limited though they be by the reach of our senses and our thought) which must be acknowledged as certain within those qualifications.

Life existed for millions of years before HUMAN life existed.

The universe is perhaps 15 billion years old..

The sun is now about 5 billion years old.

Earth is about 4 ½ billion years old.

Primitive life is about 4 billion years old and still alive and well.

eukaryotes (cells with nuclei) began about 3.9 billion years ago.

The first fossils cyanobacteria appeared.

Photosynthesis was established at or before 3.4 billion years ago.

“575-160 Mil-- Rangeomorphs, a world-wide feathery life form, lived during this period known as the Ediactaran. They fed by filtering tiny organisms from seawater were later considered as the 1st examples of complex animal life.”

66 Million years ago: “Early primates made their appearance about this time.”

Somewhere about 4,000,000 years ago the first bi-pedal pre-humans appear walking with their knuckles.

Etc. etc. etc.

This was a brief sketch but the timeline is indeed fascinating! It shows that the earth teemed with life that went extinct over and over again and that humans had absolutely nothing to do with the universe or with life. THERE WERE NO HUMANS.

Humans have existed for such a relatively short space of time! That does not mean we are insignificant, but it does lead to some more certainties.

No creation myths even come close to these fundamental facts. How should they!!

Creation myths from ALL of the myriad cultures and religious movements throughout the small part of history which humans have occupied are imaginary inventions to explain what primitive minds had no way to explain. No one creation myth (together with all the “Holy” and extraneous commentary) is any less fanciful than any other.

Having recognized the imaginary basis of ALL creation myths and religious cultural tales--there is absolutely no rationale for ascribing importance to humans over any other expression of life--other than as a natural prejudice of self importance deriving from self interest flowing from the instinct of survival. This survival instinct is common to all creatures.

Whether there is any innate “substance” (a la Spinoza) which expresses as life (and everything) is unknown--and probably unknowable. In any event, there can be no rational grounds for believing that individualized human egos and personal identities survive their transformations into other elements of matter.

For most of history the world has been peopleless. It will UNDOUBTEDLY be so again. Nobody can debate with any dignity any of these two obvious facts.

So why cannot people unite together in a cooperative effort to keep their species alive--rather than their particular cultural and personal myths of superiority?

Have you ran across a "Holy Text" which was aware of this:

Then why continue living a lie?
