I wouldn't say they came down hard on him at all.
"The indictment includes scant evidence of Mr. DeLay's role in the money transfer."

Also, he is not charged with laundering, not does the WSJ report that.

Who said he was playing with fire? My understanding is that there was only ONE indictments out of that again Delay, and even that was vague enough to perplex just about every pundit.....Seems he was doing the very same things with the PACs that Pelosi has done, and I suspect they all have done etc.
