The lead editorial expresses pretty clear disappointment, in my view. They note they have been critical of him and his methods in the past...and they remain so. At least that is my reading. Sure not a table-pounding defense. Like many, they just wish this whole thing didn't happen for what it means to republican goals and objectives.

There are 41 separate indictments involved with the whole mess...legislators, businessmen, politicians and their staff. That is a pretty far-ranging net, and it will tie up things for quite a while. Nobody likes bad publicity and the WSJ just wants business as usual
