If you are referring to a desktop, Dell's usually don't require a screwdriver to open the case. There should be two spring clips on the back. Simply press them and slide the case to the side and it should open. Should be a very easy step. What do you plan on doing inside the box?

What model DELL do you have? I have a Dimension 8200 and have found out several other models are very similar. Opening my case is a snap and it is very easy to install a floppy drive.
