I have already said so in another post. But they also held slaves and voting was for landowners only. Thankfully we have become more enlightened in the last 200 years. jb

Can someone kindly explain to me why "conservatives" tend to want as Reagan put it, to: "Get the government off the backs of the American people..."; preach old fashioned values like "freedom" and "liberty"... BUT want a court and government that limits freedom? Homosexual rights drive conservatives nuts. Women have no right to decide what to do with a pregnancy. They want the right to display THEIR religious symbols on government property. Jail for folks who burn a flag. Ditto for those who don't want to be subject to a pledge or school prayer. Don't look at those pictures or movies or go to that club - nude women are evil! Certain sex acts between consenting adults in private are illegal. It seems conservatives are always looking to LIMIT freedom rather than expand it...
