Thanks for the history lesson.

Makes me think of one of the UN's rules for governance should be something like the leader of a member nation cannot be leader for more than X years (8 seems plenty). The forced transition of power reduces the likelihood that a Saddam or Kim will destroy a country by turning it into his personal fief. I think the transition of power in China since Mao probably has something to do with that countries phenomenal success since his death.

The UN should make a rule that there will be a $1 million reward for assassination of any individual that rules a country for more than 8 years. All heads of state on the planet will be aware of the rule (which obviously carries the death penalty), so they probably won't be too tempted to thumb their noses at the UN the way mane despots do.
