IMO what seems to happen is that states of conciousness {what all mystics including Buddha, Krishna, and Christ describe}, compassion, love, peace, etc are emotions, and like much of real life, NOT linear in nature. Yet, the intellect {here meaning intellectual thinking or writting} IS linear... all thoughts or mentalizations in linguistic terms ARE LINEAR and like the equation approximating the area under a curve {calculus} can only DESCRIBE reality... not BE reality. So as you state about "when it is formalize".... is exactly what happens IMO... the truth gets 'formalized', then 'institutionalized'... which of course is impossible, and there fore loses it's value. The longer and more it's analysed, sliced, and diced, the more truth it loses... especially seeing those doing so all had axes to grind as you point out. Hence all modern mystics {Jesus didn't have the luxury of speaking of such concepts no doubt} speak of the necessity of transcending the ego {ie. the home of the intellect}. So transcending linear, logical thinking would be the path to god... the path to the ultimate truth, not simply logical, thinking: a linear DESCRIPTION of truth. So ultimate highest truths are found in the highest emotional states {love, etc}. Lower states of emotional being {fear for example} are paralleled by rapid linear & or intellectual activity of figuring out what the hell to do... scenarios, whatifs, etc. Sooooo, for some reason Buddha taught about transcending those linear those mentations (and much of Buddhism is actually thought by some to be a "psychology", not a religion).... where as Jesus taught the emotional states... replacing the 'laundry list" of the 10 commandments with the "One Great Commandment: "Love Thy Neighbor as Thy Self" for instance... replacing linear with non-linear. Blahh blahhh blahhh blahhhh!! All JMO DAK
