Iraq is a recruiting tool and it's a better recruiting tool for the terrorists than it is for the US. Yeah.. some recruiting tool.. I read something the other day... It was the story of this foreign fighter detainee who mentioned that from the time he entered Iraq (paying some smuggler $200 for the pleasure) until his capture, he was kept in isolation, away from Iraqis and denied any form of information. All he did was pray and listen to Muj propaganda all day long.. He had no idea that the BS he had been told, about Americans raping Iraqi women, ..etc. was BS.. Seems to be the ultimate "recruitment" tool is the ability for ANY group of individuals to engage in such brain-washing tactics. And only the free flow of information, and modern education (not indoctrination) is going to stop it (as well as double tapping the brain-washers). Btw, did you see that letter from Zawahiri? Even he is getting nervous about Zarqawi's conduct. And no.. the letter is not a fake(despite Zawahiris denials about having written it). It's a captured document.. taken from the site of a raid. I think that's about all I can say on the matter for now.probably doesn't make sense for the US to build more refineries I don't care.. so long as SOMEONE (mexico or Canada) builds them and sells it to us. But we really should build them ourselves so we avoid exacerbating the foreign trade deficit. Can you tell me why we were detaining those 1,000 Iraqis for months without any charges? It all depends.. I can't really discuss that issue except to say that in many cases the evidence that initially justifies their detention is based upon "non-public" sources. Thus, most of can't be used by the Iraqi magistrate court to obtain a conviction. But it keeps them off the streets and allows us to chat with them a bit.. Believe me though... if they were detained, it's likely that in the majority of cases (90%+), we had good and sufficient reason to do so.. (there are many layers of safeguards to ensure that this is the case). We just don't have the room to hold everyone that is detained in Abu G or Bucca. Hawk
