Why is it then there was no dispute about this for almost 200 years? I can see amending the practice, but all existing monuments are grandfathered and deserve to stay.

ROTFLOL... now that is one of the dumbest examples of logic I have seen, well since your last post anyway.

The constitution of most states parrot the wording of the US Constitution. But logically, states have the right to establish a state religion. "The Constitution reserves to the states to pass laws not covered by the federal government."

And in any case, the display of the Ten Commandments does not establish a state religion.

The bill of rights applies to the states through the 14th Amendment. Settled law. Not that Twatson has a prayer of understanding such concepts (so to speak).
